The Native Americans would make cakes out of cornmeal. In the Old West, cowboys would make flourless cake over their campfires. The history of cake in America has been influenced both by cultures native to this land and those that immigrated here. Today, the variety in flavors and styles of cakes is nearly endless. This cake gets its sharp flavor from a classic American spirit: bourbon. Popular in the South, this cake is often served at parties and celebrations.
