It’s believed that fat sandwiches originate at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Basically, submarine sandwich rolls are filled with a variety of fried foods, leading to many variations, with some named for the students who created them. The original version is thought to be a cheeseburger with French fries on top and dates to 1979. This recipe skips the meat, for a vegetarian fat sandwich. As is their nature, easily adapt this recipe with anything else sure to please the palate!
