Ingredients
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup water
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- 1 lb catfish filets, cut into strips
- 1½ cups corn flour
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp seafood seasoning (like old bay)
Directions
- Combine buttermilk, water, salt, and pepper in a small mixing bowl.
- Pour mixture into a large skillet.
- Spread out fish filets in skillet, turning to coat each side. Set aside.
- Combine corn flour, all purpose flour, and seafood seasoning in a 2-gallon plastic bag.
- Add a few filets at a time to the bag and turn until evenly coated.
- Heat the oil in a deep skillet until the temperature reaches 365°F.
- Place filets in the oil and deep fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.
- Remove fish filets from oil and let drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot or warm.
Notes
Fried fish is great with ketchup or hot sauce. You can also add bread and make a sandwich.
