Mississippi Pot Roast

This recipe took the internet by storm back in the early 2000s, and has been pinned more than 1 million times on Pinterest. Created by Robin Chapman of Ripley, Mississippi, this recipe blends together five distinct ingredients for a brand new pot roast taste sensation. Even the New York Times has declared this recipe β€œthe roast that owns the internet.”

Ingredients

  • 3–4 lb roast
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 pkg au jus gravy mix
  • 1 pkg dry ranch dressing mix
  • 12 pepperoncini peppers, canned
  • Juice from can of pepperoncinis, to taste

Directions

  1. Place roast in a slow cooker.
  2. Add all other ingredients
  3. Cover and cook until tender, about 3–4 hours.
  4. Remove from slow cooker, place on a platter, and allow to rest for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Carve and serve.

Notes

Optional: Add sliced carrots and/or sliced onion.
