Seafood boils are a long-standing tradition of coastal regions in America. The easy recipe includes a variety of seafood, including shrimp, mussels, clams, crabs, and crayfish. Vegetables like corn on the cob and potatoes are commonly included as well. Ancestors of Cajuns, known as Acadians, settled in the US in the late 1700s and seafood was a staple food item. Settling along the coasts, Acadians enjoyed the abundant seafood and it’s believed they brought the technique of boiling seafood with them. Seafood boils are now a common practice in the US and make a fun, casual meal for gatherings.
