Chex mix is a seasoned snack mix featuring a variety of Chex brand cereals as the main ingredient along with an assortment of nuts, crackers, pretzels, hard breadsticks, and bagel chips. One of the first recipes for Chex party mix appeared in Life magazine in 1952. It was during this time in the early 1950s that “TV mixes,”—snacks that could be consumed easily without interrupting television watching—were becoming popular. Since then it has become a popular party snack, especially during the holiday season.
