Snickers Salad

This “dessert salad” has a crunchy and chewy texture that will satisfy any sweet tooth. Popular in the Midwest, it can also be found in areas with a large Lutheran and Scandinavian heritage. Some variations call for vanilla instant pudding, and a caramel apple version makes for a nice fall treat. Don’t look for this “salad” in restaurants, but expect to see it at potlucks and church events.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 container (12 oz) Cool Whip (or other dairy whipped topping), thawed
  • 6 Snickers candy bars
  • 4–6 Granny Smith apples

Directions

  1. Mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until thoroughly blended.
  2. Fold in Cool Whip.
  3. Cut Snickers bars into bite-size chunks and add to cream cheese mixture.
  4. Chop apples into chunks and add to mixture. Stir.
  5. Chill 60 minutes before serving.
